My classes

Well I must say that my classes progressively got better as the week went on. I only have classes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday....rough I know! After my psychology class Monday I was not as enthusiastic about starting school back again. But then Tuesday came along with my 3 hour Creative Writing class. I will be quite honest in saying that truly nothing can get me to sit and hold my attention for that long unless being a movie or an incredible page-turning book. This class proved that wrong however. After a brief introduction, she had us already inspired to write, most things about ourselves. Considering I love talking/writing about myself, the class was over before I knew it. My flatmate Jenna right across from me is also in this class. She's from Chicago, and I found her to have an uncannily similar personality to Megan, my good friend from Mizzou who is also from Chicago as well. So I've been able to easily warm up to Jenna as you can imagine. After class we decided to get lost in Soho where we grabbed lunch at an Italian bistro and then ended up making a few friends at local hair salon...oh the ways I meet people in London: )Anyways, my first week of classes have been wonderful to say the least. I'm sure I will be blogging about each and every one of them as the semester progresses. As of now though, I will just let you know that I am taking a psychology class, female gender studies in literature class, creative writing class, and an acting class(yes I found it comical as well).
I was finally able to reach my friend from Mizzou who just recently moved to London. Her name is Camille and is an August newlywed. After several attempts to get each other's correct numbers, we finally were able to meet up the other day. We met at Waterloo Station, which is my favorite station of all as of yesterday, and made our way to Notting Hill for the day. With the weather being in the high 70's to low 80's and cloud-free skies, it could not have been a perfect day to visit the Portobello Market. Amidst the random shops, we found the Hummingbird Bakery I have been hearing so much about from numerous people. So needless to say, we stopped there and split a layered chocolate/cheesecake/cream cheese cupcake and a pumpkin whoopie pie. A whoopie pie is two biscuit-like cookies smooshed and held together with cream cheese. Although the whoopie pie was good, it did not hold a torch to the chocolate/cheesecake/cream cheese cupcake. We perused the shops some more and then called it a day. You liked Notting Hill so much that I agreed to go there today with Miraya, Claire, and Kara. Considering it's a Saturday, the shops are going to be much more crowded and vibrant. It'll be interesting to see which day I most enjoy Notting Hill. The calm and peaceful Thursday or the vibrant and lively Saturday. Before I end this blog and peace out to Notting Hill, I need to mention I got to see my friend Kaitlyn last night. She's my good friend from Mizzou who was in my French class for two semesters. She's here for a semester studying in Lancaster. Kaitlyn was actually the one who inspired me to choose London for study abroad. Anyways, she starts class Monday and has been traveling all over Europe for the past five weeks! So last night Camille, Kaitlyn, and myself all met at Whitechapel Station and met up for dinner. Kaitlyn had been taken to this amazing turkish restaurant while she was here last. So she went back with us last night. We had lamb with a spicy curry sauce on top, hummus, falafel, baklava, and even got a complimentary Turkish Delight with the check. Both Camille and Kaitlyn were not big fans, but I surprisingly enjoyed the Turkish Delights very much!Afterwards we headed back to my place where Kaitlyn and I spontaneously booked a trip to a place in Greece we've never even heard of. The prices were cheap and the google images looked cool...so why not right??It's Corfu, Greece, southwestern island. So yes, Kaitlyn and I will be heading to Corfu, Greece the last weekend of October, or this month!I can't even believe October is here. Time is just flying by. Well I'm going to go get lost in the market at Notting Hill. I'll be blogging soon. It's super hot and sunny here. I'm actually wearing shorts today. Love you guys. Till the next blog!My camera is acting up. I'll post pics when I get back!
